  • Stephan Micus - On the Wing
  • Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats - The Night Creeper
  • And one for Doctor Foster...

Jaco Pastorius - Jaco Pastorius :-D
  • Jon Hassell - Maarifa Street: Magic Realism, Vol 2
  • Max Roach - Percussion Bitter Sweet

Somewhere between hard bop, free jazz and something Roach dreamt up with a choir thrown in, this is one of those albums that always sounds fresh and interesting.
  • Van Morrison - Veedon Fleece
  • Iro Haarla Quintet - Vespers
  • Eberhard Weber - Yellow Fields
  • Donald Byrd - Ethiopian Nights

Perhaps one for our Mr Sex Change from Gloucester?
  • John McLaughlin - Extrapolation

    I almost feel like I'm at a hi-fi show.
  • The Julius Hemphill Sextet - Fat Man and the Hard Blues
  • Price Lasha and Sonny Simmons - Firebirds

  • Pan African Peoples Arkestra - Flight 17
  • Courting the Squall - Guy Garvey
  • I'd never heard of him, so I looked on Tidal. Very little, but liked Angela's Eyes.
  • It's his first solo album away from Elbow. I likes him :-)
  • Pardon my ignorance! Never really liked Elbow, which is probably why.

Please recommend some Elbow, so that I may change my mind ;-)
  • Raoul Bjorkenheim, Ingebrigt Haker-Flaten and Paal Nilsson-Love - Scorch Trio

It does what it says on the tin!

"Pardon my ignorance! Never really liked Elbow, which is probably why."

Ah, Dave, he is ubiquitous on Radio 6. No escaping the b*gger !

"Please recommend some Elbow, so that I may change my mind "

well, I pride myself on not being a proslytiser. But my Wharfdales recommend...

    and...

    enough now.
  • Thanks Suzy.

All you need to do to embed is to take the simple link (the version with no code) from Embed on YouTube and paste it here.
  • Ray Charles at Newport
  • Keith Jarrett, Charlie Haden and Paul Motian - Hamburg '72

I must admit I was disappointed with this to begin with - probably too high expectations, probably - but it is growing on me.

Kieran Hebden, Steve Reid and Mats Gustafsson - Live at the South Bank

Neither as out or as groovy as the lineup may suggest.
  • Justin put me onto this one: Ben Howard, Every Kingdom.
his lyrics appeal to my sentimental side (yes, I do have one!). Though his vocal style not so much. Enjoying the compositions though :-)
  • Bobo Stenson Trio - Serenity
  • Sigur Ros - ()
  • Alice Coltrane - Universal Consciousness/Lords of Lords

    HEAVY hippy shit, man :-)
  • Sex Mob - Live in New York 2003
  • Escapades - Dreadzone. Doesnt have the same narrative cohesion of my faves.
  • Cecil Taylor Feel Trio - 2Ts for a Lovely T

Not all seven hours of it, though.
  • Back Door - Back Door

Always reminds me of being a student in Leicester. A mate bought this and played it to death.

@suzy6toes Finally had a listen to the Elbow you selected for me.

Loved the first one. The second didn't do much. And the third was OK.

Maybe the first was the only ugly one :-D

Thank you. I'll have a poke around in Tidal to see whether there's more like the first to be had.
  • You're a busy boy this evening, Mr U.M.!
Glad you found something sufficiently ugly in my offerings. A bit of distortion can go a long way!
And thanks to you / whoever for sorting my links out for me :-)

Here it's Dido and Aeneas. My sole nod to opera I think. I'm a philistine (is that racist?)

  • Always a busy boy, me!

Distortion is a good thing ;-)

I did the links. Just to make it easier to see the vids, if I am to be honest
    :-\"

I'm a bit like that with the hoperas, too. Mine is Peter Grimes.
  • having said that...my system doing fine, fine justice to Hydrogen Jukebox (Glass/Ginsberg) this evening
  • That, I don't know. But I feel I should. Howl is one of the only books of poetry I own.
  • "one of the only books of poetry..."
Gosh, people own more than one book of poetry ??
    @-)

  • Hydrogen Jukebox is fairly ugly, so might be your bag!
  • Not much more than one book of poetry...

I imagine it is pretty ugly, given the composer and the subject matter.
  • James Blake - James Blake
  • Terry Riley - A Rainbow in Curved Air
  • Hm, Terry Riley ... strangely compulsive listening as it turns out  8-X
  • I love it. It's one of those 'Oh, here's a whole new genre, fully formed' recordings.
  • Keith Jarrett - The Survivor's Suite

One of my favourite albums. By one of my favourite jazz groups. Led by my favourite pianist. Just sooooo good in so many ways.
  • Paul Bley, Gary Peacock and Paul Motian - Not Two, Not One
  • Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid

@suzy6toes I think I like it when they loosen up a bit, but don't like it when they've been listening to Coldplay.
  • Ikue Mori, Robert Quine and Marc Ribot - Painted Desert

William Parker Trio - Painter's Spring
  • Oliver Mtukudzi - Vhunze Moto
