RIP David Bowie

What are you playing in his honour?

Comments

  • I'm playing Blackstar as it doesn't seem appropriate to look back.

Later, it'll be Station to Station, because it's my favourite Bowie album.
  • Oh what a sad day.
  • I felt sad when I heard the news, although I can't claim to be a fan. I'm not very aware of his work (except the more famous songs), and am "enjoying" hearing his tunes on the radio today. Some really good stuff. I'll have to make an effort to get to know Bowie's work better.

I'm not sure you'd could count me as a fan either, but he has made some belters of albums!

Big loss to the music industry and left plenty behind to be remembered by.

    Ashes to Ashes

Has to be Outside for me: Thru These Architects Eyes. Bloody marvellous!

Ooh. Don't know the album or the track. They're on today's playlist!

Both are fantastic. I don't know how I missed the album. Actually, I do. I'd just about given up on Bowie by the time this arrived.

    My loss.

Got any other gems I need to know about?
  • Glad you enjoyed. It always feels like a 21st century Dickens novel to me. It's deliciously dark. Mr Touchwick from the album reminds me of Mr Krooks from Bleak House, who surrounds himself with mountains of documents he can't read and who spontaneously combusts.
Was completely addicted to this album for a while.
  • It is dark, but I haven't worked out what's going on yet, I must admit.

I'll be playing it again soon, I know that.
  • @suzy6toes Was there ever a Part 2?
  • None that I know of. You're looking for an ending for the story?
  • Not so much an ending to the story, but wondering why they started it, but didn't appear to finish.
  • Like I say, it all remind me of Dickens, so I think of it as The Mystery of Edwin Drood, which never got finished either  :))
  • But with Bowie, Blackstar is clearly his last statement, timed to be released near the end of his life.
  • True, true.
    Pure minxy-ness maybe??
