Amps

edited April 2015 in Amplifiers
I dont want sound thick, but im a bit short on space,so is it ok to put 1 power amp on top of the other or will i cook them as they get quite warm? There will be plenty of space at the sides and back and a bit of space at the top.

  • I suspect this would not be recommended, especially if they already get warm.
    But, what amps are they?

You could try it and monitor their temperature closely.
  • Generally not a good idea, unless their digital amps which tend to not get as warm compared to traditional designs.
  • I know its not good but space is an issue :( the amps are magnums mf300's
  • I have now sorted the issue and bought a 5 shelve rack :/ the missus is not happy lol
  • Love my amps just wished i could find the sound and build quality in 1 box but i cant unless i spend lots :(  i havent got lots to spend so will have to put with whinging missus and 5 shelve rack in corner :/
  • How about a TOCA? There were one or two around a while back.

That'd be one box, and go for a single box pre and you'll have replaced four boxes with two.

@quickie may be able to help. Or even @colin.
